There once was a dusty old toy shop, in the middle of Pudding Town.
It was owned be a little old man and his wife, named Mr. and Mrs. Brown.
One cold and frost morning, a letter came through their door.
They opened it up and to their surprise, it was from Santa Claus.
“Oh, help me please!”, the letter read, “My elves have all caught flu!My toy supplies are running low, and I don't know what to do”.
“I hope that you can help me, I'm in an awful stew.
I need bikes and skates and books and games and stocking fillers too.
I'll come round and collect them, on Christmas Eve at ten
And maybe you could lend a hand to help deliver them.”
“Good gracious me!” cried Mrs. Brown, “There is no time to waste,
We need wrapping paper, coloured bows and lots of sticky tape!”
For the next few days, without a rest, they wrapped with loving care
Gifts of every shape and size until all the shelves were bare.
On Christmas Eve at half past nine their work was finally done.
“We deserve a drink” said Mrs. Brown “I'll put the kettle on.”
As they sat sipping their cocoa, a knock came on the door,
And standing covered all in snow was a cheery Santa Claus.
“We got your letter” said Mr. Brown, “we've done the best we can.
“There's lots of toys to deliver so I'd better give you a hand.”
“We'll have to hurry” said Santa, “If we want to be finished in time.
We'll load it all upon my sleigh, I've parked it just outside.”
When the sleigh was full of presents, right up to the brim.
Mr. Brown kissed his wife goodbye then he and Santa both jumped in.
They flew around the world that night, over land and over sea.
And at every good child's house they left, a gift beneath the tree.
When their work was finally done, they returned to Pudding Town
And there had sherry and mince pies served up by Mrs. Brown.
After saying goodbye to Santa, the Browns went straight to bed,
And both fell asleep as their pillows touched their weary heads.
When they woke the next morning, they found beneath their tree,
A strange looking little parcel – now just what could it be?
The gift tag read – From Santa Claus To Mr. and Mrs. Brown,
The most generous, caring people in the whole of Pudding Town.
Inside was a letter to prove to all the world,
The Browns had both saved Christmas, for the good little boys and girls.
Mr. Brown framed the letter, as neat as neat could be.
And he hung it in the window, where passers-by could see.
From then on everyone in town shopped at Brown's Toy Store,
Because it was especially recommended by Mr. Santa Claus.
